WHERE THE STAGE NAME “THE WEEKND” COMES FROM

Grammy-winning R&B singer, songwriter, record producer and performer The Weeknd were born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye on February 16, 1990, in Toronto, Ontario. In fact, Joey used to doodle that name over and over in his high school notebook. The rest of the guys in the band liked and approved the name. Regarding the initial Aerosmith “wings” logo, that evolved over time, it was a reference to the old “Flying A” gas station signs. This is where the band’s name and logo finally come from.
